How to Collect Sim Golf League Dues Without Chasing Venmo

Dues collection is the least fun part of running a league. Here is how to charge a per-team fee, take it by card, and stop being your own accounts-receivable department.

Every league organizer knows the drill. You set a season fee, you announce it three times, and eight weeks later you are still texting one guy about the $60 he owes. The scoring runs itself, the leaderboard runs itself, and then dues turn you into a part-time collections agency.

It does not have to be that way. Here is how to structure sim golf league dues so they collect themselves, and where the money actually goes.

Decide what dues cover

Before you set a number, be specific about what the fee buys. For most weekly sim leagues it is some mix of bay time, a prize pool, and a season-end payout. If you have not landed on a number yet, our guide on what to charge for a sim golf league walks through the math. Put the breakdown in writing so the fee feels like a membership, not a cover charge.

Charge per team, not per player

Weekly sim leagues run on teams, so bill the team a single dues amount and let the captain settle up internally. It halves the number of payments you track and it maps cleanly to how the leaderboard already works. A 12-team league is 12 payments to chase, not 40.

Take it by card, in the app

The reason dues drag on is friction. Cash means someone has to be there with it. Venmo means you are reconciling a phone screenshot against a roster. Cards remove the excuse. In LeagueNight you turn on dues for a league, set the per-team amount, and each captain gets a Pay button right on their scorecard. The money lands in your account, not ours.

One thing we insist on: the card processing fee is passed to the payer at cost, shown as its own line before they pay, with no markup from us. A $60 dues charge shows the real Stripe fee next to it and nothing more. You net the full $60, the player sees exactly what the card costs, and nobody is quietly skimming the pot.

Keep a manual override for the cash crowd

Some players will always hand you a folded twenty. That is fine. Mark those teams paid by hand and the dues tracker treats them the same as a card payment. The point is one board that shows who is square and who is not, however the money arrived.

Announce it once, then let the board do the nagging

When dues are visible on every captain's scorecard, you stop being the reminder. The unpaid banner is the reminder. Send one league-wide announcement at the start of the season, and let the paid/unpaid status carry the rest. If you are still filling the league, our post on getting your first 24 players pairs well with turning dues on from day one.

The bottom line

Dues should be a setting, not a second job. Set a per-team fee, take it by card with the fee passed through honestly, keep a manual toggle for cash, and let the leaderboard show who has paid.
