Move Your Golf League from Spreadsheets

Keep the season’s history, document the rules and rehearse one week before changing the link players use. A careful cutover is easier than correcting two competing sets of standings.

Keep a clean copy of the current season

Save the original roster, schedule, score sheets, handicap history and dues record. Record the format, points scale, tie rule, dropped weeks and any manual adjustments. A total alone may not contain the detail needed to reproduce a result.

Choose whether to start LeagueNight at the beginning of a new season or during the current one. The new-season option usually needs fewer historical results to be reconciled. Do not assume a generic CSV import carries every custom formula or previous standings adjustment.

Configure the rules before entering scores

Create the facility and league, set the season dates, hole count, team size and scoring choices, and add your roster. Work through one week with known results before publishing the leaderboard.

For handicaps, document what your spreadsheet did and compare it with the selected LeagueNight policy. If the formula changes, explain that change to players. Matching a gross score does not prove that net scoring and season points match.

Rehearse a regular week and an exception

Use a sample round, a tie, an absent team and a substitute. Check the points and standings, then inspect the scorecard and public leaderboard. Fix rule differences before opening live scoring.

Review the schedule against the venue’s bays. If SimBook is linked, confirm one league night holds the correct bays and public booking availability reflects it.

Publish one official source of results

Announce the cutover date, score-entry link, schedule and rulebook. Explain where to report a score correction and who has authority to make it. Keep the old spreadsheet as the historical backup rather than continuing to publish two official tables.

Review the first completed week with the previous organizer. Reconcile scores, points, dues and any exceptions, then use the same review process each week.
